Colfax BRT + Denver Water Updates
Colfax BRT Update
Colfax Bus Rapid Transit construction is ahead of schedule and will start in our area on June 30. The construction zone will be from Eudora to Holly.
- Due to these improvements, work will now begin in our district (Segment 3) in late June starting at Eudora Street moving eastward.
- Activities from Eudora Street to Fairfax Street will include site investigations, median removal, new travel lane configurations, and construction of the BRT station at Elm Street. This work is projected to take 3-4 months.
- Improvements along sidewalks (trees, pedestrian light poles, traffic signal work) will be phased in later. A final timeframe for this work is not currently available but will be shared when it is.
- Access to sidewalks and business entrances will be maintained at all times.
- Because Colfax is wider in our area than it is to the west, there is more room for travel lanes in each direction and for on-street parking during construction where feasible. However, on-street parking will be removed at and near the Elm Street station in June. Parking will be maintained on side streets. There will be some work on intersections, but parking will remain open on these side streets during intersection work.
- Pre-construction work will be conducted from Fairfax to Krameria, which will not change lane configurations in those areas at this time. When dates have been established for Fairfax moving Eastbound a new update will come out.
- The BRT construction team is applying lessons learned in Segments 1 and 2 to phase the work to minimize impacts to business operations, and to make as much on-street parking available as is safe and feasible.
Please see the flier here for more info. The project team is going door-to-door to notify businesses and work with them on operational concerns.
