BRT Construction Updates, Business Relief Grants Available Soon, Plus More
Construction Updates: The Good News
Major construction in our district is on track to wrap up by the end of this year. In 2027, crews will shift to finish work—planting new street trees, repaving Colfax Avenue, and repainting crosswalks. It’s a full refresh of the corridor.
BRT Station Construction—Phase 1
- Work is underway at Elm, Hudson, and Krameria Streets. Work starts in early April at the Monaco station.
- Businesses between Locust Street and Monaco will be affected by Denver Water work starting around March 23 for up to 2 weeks. On-street parking on the north side of East Colfax Avenue will be closed during the work. Leyden Street will be temporarily closed on the north side of Colfax.
For questions or concerns, call the Construction Hotline at 720-336-0025.
Streetscape Improvements—Phase 2
This phase focuses on creating a safer, more comfortable experience for everyone who works or shops on Colfax. Sidewalk work will include soil cells for healthy street trees, new pedestrian light poles, and corner bump‑outs to calm traffic and shorten crossings. This work is starting now at Eudora Street.

Restaurant Owners: Waste No More Ordinance
Denver’s new Universal Waste Ordinance, which requires composting of organic material by restaurants and other businesses, takes effect this September. Small local restaurants may opt out of this requirement. The BID and our city councilmembers helped advocate for the opt-out.
We will share information on how to opt out when it is available.
